Theodore bids to extend term as CEO of Euronext

EURONEXT, the Paris-based stock exchange group, is considering scrapping an agreement that would force Jean-Franois Theodore, the group's chief executive, to step down next May.

The agreement calls for the chief executive of Euronext to be rotated every four years. It was struck in 2000 when Euronext was formed through the merger of the Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels stock exchanges.

His bid to scrap the agreement is likely to lead to a rift on the 12-strong supervisory board, which is split equally between the three original exchanges.
