As the sun rose over the Lower Cherwell this morning, a group of Oxford students will have hauled themselves out of bed, ready to stretch their muscles and test their stamina. They are the university's rowing teams - would any other student voluntarily set their alarm for 5.30am? All are nervously awaiting Eights Week (May

27-31), when inter-collegiate teams compete for the title of "Head of the River".
