Adams National Bank Feud Elicits Sexism From an Unlikely Quarter
|
Fearing a loss of control through the sale of a majority stake
in their institution, directors of Adams National Bank have resorted
to sexism, the very thing that the bank's founders hoped to
overcome.
Perceiving the plan as an assault on gains by women, Adams
National's directors contend New York's Citibank will destroy
Adams's mission by selling Citibank's majority stock interest to a
group of black former military officers.
Chartered in 1977 as Women's National Bank, Adams National was
founded to serve the banking needs of women, primarily, and
