We can safely assume, I think, that the name of Evelyn Waugh is not highly regarded among Rastafarians. In 1930, Waugh went to Abyssinia to report on the coronation of Haile Selassie, the man whom Rastafarians believe to have been divine. Waugh took a rather different view.

His account of the event in a travel book, Remote People, the following year, was sceptical enough. But in 1932, he published a novel, Black Mischief, reworking the same material with more vim.
