National Gallery finds Botticelli painting worth pounds 10m in vaults

A MASTERPIECE by Sandro Botticelli, the Italian Renaissance
artist, has been discovered by the National Gallery after lying
unidentified in its vaults for more than 150 years. It is estimated
that it could fetch pounds 10 million if put up for auction.
The painting, which has never been exhibited because it was deemed
to be too insignificant, depicts St Francis surrounded by angels and
was thought to have been the work of a minor artist from Sienna.
Its true provenance has just been uncovered, however, after
