A 100th anniversary was celebrated yesterday afternoon at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.

It wasn't the centennial of the founding of the gallery in 1869, nor of its debut - in what is now the Renwick - in 1874. Nor was it the anniversary of the Corcoran's new building, for which the ground was bro laid for that extraordinary structure - which gives us an excuse to celebrate its virtues, contemplate its future, ponder, sigh and cheer.
