In the City, the smallest bid battles always end up being the
nastiest. So it is with the scrap over Moss Bros, the troubled
menswear retailer, which is rapidly disintegrating into a personal
slanging match between a brash entrepreneur and a chairman from the
heart of blue-chip Britain.
In the blue corner stands Shami Ahmed, the Joe Bloggs owner, who
wants to take control of Moss Bros and turn it around. In the red
corner (financially at least) stands Keith Hamill, Moss Bros's
chairman, who doesn't believe that Ahmed has the money and, even if
he did, says it is not nearly enough.
