A FLAGSHIP drag hunt in the New Forest, which has been praised by ministers and anti-hunting campaigners, has collapsed in chaos after organisers admitted that the hounds could not be prevented from chasing deer.

The drag hunt, in which hounds are supposed to follow an aniseed trail instead of an animal, was sponsored by the RSPCA and backed by Elliot Morley, the agriculture minister, when trials were launched three years ago.
