TEHERAN: Bombs ripped through a bank and government building in
the southern Iranian oil city of Ahvaz yesterday, killing eight
people in a region that has seen intermittent bombings and rioting
since April.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was due to visit the city
yesterday, but his office said he cancelled the trip on Monday night
because of sandstorms which would have wrecked his hallmark walks
through the streets.
