Poland inches towards new election

WARSAW: Poland will be forced to hold a fresh election if the ruling right fails to build a majority in parliament, the prime minister said yesterday, steering the European Union newcomer towards a new poll as early as April.

Adding to political uncertainty, which weakened financial markets, last-ditch coalition talks between the conservatives and fringe groups were delayed just before they started.
