Poverty-relief plan helps ethnic groups

The country's 22 underpopulated ethnic groups will benefit from a new round of poverty alleviation reforms with financial aid totalling up to 1 billion yuan (US$123.46 million) in the next five years.

Officials from the State Ethnic Affairs Commission made the statement at a two-day working conference of the State Council on the development of underpopulated ethnic groups, which ended yesterday in Beijing.
