Martin Marietta Cleared to Buy Division; FTC Also Tells Company to Keep Rocket, Satellite Operations Separate

The Federal Trade Commission yesterday offered a cure for Martin Marietta Corp.'s split-personality disorder.

The FTC gave Martin Marietta permission to buy General Dynamics Corp.'s rocket division for $208 million, but said it had to build a wall of secrecy between its operation that builds and launches rockets and its unit that makes satellites.
