Swiss fear 'threat' to neutrality from UN
|
WILDERSWIL, Switzerland: Deep amidst the soaring Alpine peaks,
long an impenetrable barrier to hostile invaders, many Swiss are
readying themselves to resist a siren call for their neutral country
to join the United Nations (UN).
Despite being host to the European headquarters of the UN, along
with several international agencies, fiercely independent Switzerland
is the only state apart from the Vatican not to be a member of the
world body.
