Jordan's, Lafayette plan fixup downtown

Jordan Marsh and the Lafayette Hotel have told Boston officials they are preparing to spend up to $26 million over the next two years to renovate their buildings in an effort to keep blight from overtaking the city's downtown retail core.

Their plans coincide with an abrupt decision by Chemical Bank of New York to evict about a dozen remaining tenants in the Lafayette Place shopping mall, which links the Jordan Marsh department store with the Lafayette Hotel.
