Brest is said to seek a deal Talks reported in Mavroules case

Attorneys for bankrupt Lynn car dealer Bob Brest are negotiating with federal prosecutors in an attempt to lessen criminal sanctions that Brest may face for providing the free use of cars to US Rep. Nicholas Mavroules and other North Shore officials.

But while Brest's lawyer, Brackett Denniston 3d of Boston, has talked with federal prosecutors, a source said yesterday that no deal has been reached for Brest's cooperation in the probe of Mavroules.
