Church officials defend loan from pension fund
|
Officials of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, said yesterday
their pension fund is sound because they have promised to repay with
interest money borrowed to cover other church expenses, including
their new radio and television programs.
They also said the Monitor Channel, their cable TV network, "is
meeting its business plan" and said they are carrying about $250
million invested in television alone as an asset on their books.
