Veterans' uneasy return from war

IN RESPONSE to Anna Badkhen's article "Shelters take many vets of
Iraq, Afghan wars" (Page A1, Aug. 7): It seems, as usual, that our
government has things backward. First it sends hundreds of men and
women trained to kill into war, and when they return, the military
discharges them after they show signs of psychological stress.
Of course these people are drinking and using drugs to numb the
memories and psychological pain. You'd think after generations of
wars, our government could predict this outcome, and provide reentry
services to these soldiers, not just for a few weeks after returning, ...
