Robert Wesselhoeft III, 63; epitomized the family doctor
|
Robert Wesselhoeft III was one of a vanishing breed of physicians
who give their patients not only quality healthcare but the gift of
time, even if it causes a backlog in the waiting room. But his
patients rarely minded the wait because they knew they would receive
the same attention from the man they all called Toby.
For 19 years, Dr. Wesselhoeft was primary care physician at the
Boston Evening Medical Center, a community center in the Back Bay. He
became its medical director in 1989 and remained in that position
after Massachusetts General Hospital assumed supervision of the
center in 1998.
