MAYNARD December is a peak season for the Maynard Community Chest, which is winding down its fund-raising drive.

In October, about 4,000 letters were mailed to Maynard residents and businesses asking for contributions, said John Meyn, new president of the nonprofit organization that has assisted programs for children, elderly, and other residents since 1967.
