Orioles Sign Reliever Myers; But Starter Al Leiter Opts for the Marlins

The Baltimore Orioles added the relief pitching ace they had been seeking by signing free agent closer Randy Myers today to a two-year contract worth $6.3 million. But not everything went right for the Orioles on the free agent front, as they lost starter Al Leiter to the Florida Marlins.

Near the end of his busy day, General Manager Pat Gillick said it's possible that the Orioles could move left-hander Kenny Rogers ahead of right-hander David Cone on the team's wish list of free agent starters because of the loss of Leiter, a left-hander.
