That a growing number of young women in America suffer from eating disorders is hardly news anymore. A recent study from the Mayo Clinic shows that anorexia has been increasing by 36 percent every five years since the 1950s.

Today, some 8 million people - mostly women, but increasingly men, too - suffer from anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, a related disorder characterized by binge eating and purging.
