New England's clearest weather occurs in early and mid-autumn,
bringing ideal conditions for stargazing. Take out the sky map after
dinner any time in the next week or two, along with a dim flashlight
to read it by, and you can make the acquaintance of some of autumn's
leading constellations.
Find a dark spot with a view to the northeast. Look high up, more
than halfway from the horizon to straight overhead. There you'll spot
the W-shaped constellation, Cassiopeia. The W is currently tilted to
