HARVARD PILGRIM HITTING RECOVERY GOALS, STATE SAYS REPORT LAUDS FINANCIAL RESULTS

State regulators said yesterday that Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has achieved a "significant turnaround," a pronouncement that comes at a critical time, with many of the HMO's members deciding in upcoming weeks whether to re-enroll.

In their first status report since Harvard Pilgrim was freed from state receivership in May, Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly and Insurance Commissioner Linda Ruthardt said the health plan's financial results through August are better than projected in their 2000 turnaround plan.
