JAZZING UP INDIAN MUSIC AND DANCE
|
This Saturday at MIT's Kresge Auditorium, East will meet West in an ambitious series of performances that mixes traditional Indian music and dance with contemporary jazz and modern choreography.
Called "Alankaram: Explorations In Dance and Music," the multifarious event is sponsored by the locally based Academy of Indian Performing Arts Inc., which is run by Indian-American choreographer Jothi Raghavan, a specialist in the classical Indian dance style known as Bharathatnatyam.
