Vitale Ushers in Madness; Sportscaster Helps Terps Men, Women Start Season

The loudest man in college basketball descended on Cole Field
House last night. ESPN sportscaster/motor-mouth Dick Vitale, decked
out in Maryland Terrapins red, was his usual high-decibel self,
proclaiming the Maryland basketball program to be "Big, babeee!"
And when the men's team was introduced to the 12,000 fans as the
clock struck midnight, the crowd achieved the impossible: Its
cheering proved louder than Vitale.
So it was that the Terrapins men's and women's teams kicked off
their 1995-96 seasons last night beneath a laser light show at a
