George Daniel "Downbeat" Jackson, 67, a psychologist and jazz
saxophonist who was a professor in Howard University's School of
Social Work, died of a heart attack Oct. 9 at Howard University
Hospital. He had lived in Washington and taught at Howard for 20
years.
Dr. Jackson, who had been blind since infancy, was a native of
Glen Ridge, N.J. He attended Seton Hall University and was a graduate
of Rutgers University. He received a master's degree in educational
psychology and a doctorate...
