Lawyer finds no wrongs yet in Steamship Authority probe

NANTUCKET -- A lawyer hired by the Steamship Authority to investigate a former employee's allegations of wrongdoing by senior authority officials reported yesterday that he had found no substance to two of her charges.

William G. Meserve, an attorney with the Boston law firm Ropes & Gray, told Steamship Authority board members that he found "no evidence of deliberate document destruction," as alleged by former authority marketing manager Deborah Hughes.
