On a recent morning, David Mamet sipped his coffee, quoted the
last stanza of a Rudyard Kipling ode to honor and heroism, and, in
speaking about his latest film, "The Winslow Boy," extolled such
Edwardian virtues as "gentility, honor, and accountability." It
seemed an incongruous moment: such qualities are rare in the rakes
and rogues who usually inhabit Mamet's films and plays, including the
Pulitzer Prize-winning "Glengarry Glen Ross."
