The Rev. George J. Bacopulos, 77 Was Greek Orthodox chancellor

A funeral will be held today for the Rev. George J. Bacopulos,
former chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and
South America.
Father Bacopulos was chancellor of the archdiocese from 1964
until his retirement in 1986. He previously was dean of Annunciation
Cathedral in Boston and pastor of the Church of Sts. Constantine and
Helen in Detroit.
He was born in Decatur, Ill., on Christmas Day 1921. He was
attending the Greek Orthodox Seminary in Pomfret, Conn., when the
United States entered World War II. He enlisted in the Army and
participated in the D-Day landing at Omaha Beach ...
