The Reverend Monsignor Russell R. Novello, former director of the
Confraternity of Christian Doctrine for the Archdiocese of Boston,
died Sunday in Regina Cleri, the home for retired priests in Boston.
He was 80.
Monsignor Novello was born in Boston. He graduated from Bowdoin
