Silver Spring Needs a Face Lift

As a native Washingtonian now living in Silver Spring for the past 35-years, I fail to see the beauty of the downtown neighborhood in my unincorporated township {"Dream Mall A Horror Story," letters, Aug. 20}.

The center of Silver Spring at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Route 29 has shown the characteristic decay of an inner-city as retail stores and businesses have abandoned the area for more lucrative and livable neighborhoods in Rockville, Bethesda and upper Montgomery County.
