Harmonious Philharmonic Kurt Masur has gotten his New York orchestra together and is taking it on the road

Kurt Masur is bringing the New York Philharmonic to Boston for its
first appearance in the BankBoston Celebrity Series in 20 years.
Next Friday, the orchestra and its music director report to Symphony
Hall to perform Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Shostakovich's Fifth.
For decades, the New York Philharmonic has suffered from the worst
reputation of any of the major American orchestras. It must have
come as a relief to the players to read last month in The Wall Street
Journal that the Boston Symphony now holds that dubious distinction.
