The 1st Norfolk House of Representatives District has long been a launching pad for Quincy politicians.

Among those who have represented the area, which includes the city's fast-growing north and west ends, are Michael W. Morrissey, now a state senator, and Michael G. Bellotti, son of a former Massachusetts attorney general and now a candidate for Norfolk County sheriff.
