Sullivan, Flaherty try to crowd each other out

With Martha Coakley and Timothy R. Flaherty launching ads on
major television stations last week and exchanging blows in the
newspaper, the third candidate, Michael S. Sullivan, has sometimes
seemed the odd man out in the race for Middlesex district attorney.
It is an impression that Flaherty appears eager to foster.
In taking direct aim at Coakley on the death penalty and other
issues, Flaherty has sought to portray the contest as a two-way
battle between him and Coakley, the perceived front-runner.
