FINDING JUSTICE AFTER POL POT

NEW YORK - The news of Pol Pot's death has ended hopes of
prosecuting him and rendering a verdict on his awful crimes. But
President Clinton has stated that his death should "not deter us
from the equally important task of bringing these others (in the
Khmer Rouge leadership) to justice." Fine sentiments, but they beg
a question: What do you do with a world-class war criminal once
you've got him?
The tenebrous Pol Pot was responsible for the deaths of more
than a million Cambodians during the 1975-79 reign of the Khmer
Rouge. He resurfaced briefly last summer, when former comrades
