CAMBRIDGE -- In Greek mythology, Daedalus was the fabulous artificer who created the Labyrinth and other wonders.

In contemporary intellectual life, Daedalus has a different relation to labyrinths; it navigates them, as one of America's most distinguished quarterlies.
