John Edward "Buddy" Black of Dedham, owner of Black's Auto Service Inc., died Friday in his home. He was 69.

Mr. Black was a lifelong resident of Dedham, a graduate of St. Mary's School, and a 1946 graduate of Dedham High School. He earned a degree from Boston College in 1955.

He served in both the Army and Navy and was a Korean War veteran. He managed the family auto-repair business in Dedham for more than 50 years.
