It's a little-known tale to warm even the most cynical heart: how a first-generation Bostonian almost single-handedly saved the USS Constitution from demolition.

As "Old Ironsides" celebrated its 200th birthday yesterday with a cruise around Boston Harbor, those who love the venerable three-masted frigate could thank an Armenian immigrant named Moses Gulesian for his patriotism and foresight.
