Italian satirist Dario Fo awarded Nobel Prize in Literature

Dario Fo, a 71-year-old Italian actor-playwright whose irreverent
comedy has drawn the ire of the Vatican and whose radical politics
caused the US government to deny him a visa in 1980, won the 1997
Nobel Prize in Literature, it was announced yesterday in Stockholm.
In addition to writing more than 70 works that range from plays to
cabaret sketches, Fo has performed as a mime, improvisational artist,
