Woods's closing act is a spectacular revival

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Ernie Banks had a smile that couldn't have been
wider even if the Cubs had won the pennant. A few feet away, Tiger
Woods was about to be interviewed, and Banks kept repeating, "Amazing
. . . an amazing turnaround."
Woods would say moments later that he was unaware of the sense of
expectation that hung over Augusta National GC yesterday -- almost
like the prickly electric charge of a thunderstorm -- "because I
don't read the papers."
Hah! Banks knew, as did thousands more, the former Cubs great
saying, "I just had to be here because of the buildup and what it all
