ANDOVER -- Few artists have had as bumpy a ride on the roller coaster of reputation as Reginald Marsh. Throughout the '30s and '40s he was America's Hogarth, celebrating the dynamism of Manhattan low life; when he died at the age of 56 in 1954, Abstract Expressionism dominated the New York scene, and figurative art was old-fangled. A modest, engaging show at the Addison Gallery is Marsh's first major exhibition in a decade.
