Let the arts begin The Olympics won't remake Atlanta's architecture, but they may improve the city

ATLANTA -- The idea behind my visit here was that I'd report on the architecture of the Olympics. But it turns out there isn't any architecture of the Olympics. In Atlanta they don't even call these structures "buildings." They call them "venues." That's a tip-off that nobody's even attempting memorable architecture. What is being atttempted, though, is pretty interesting. Some Olympic cities develop architectural ambitions, and some don't. After seeing Atlanta, I've decided there are at least four ways to be an Olympic city.
