Boston Gas to leave business of selling gas

Boston Gas Co. plans to get out of the business of selling gas over the next five years and transfer its marketing to a new, unregulated affiliate.

The still-unnamed affiliate would become a unit of Boston Gas' parent company, Eastern Enterprises of Weston, and also sell electricity and, perhaps, propane and fuel oil.
