Nixon lawyer wins praise from Drinan
|
More than 20 years ago, then-Rep. Robert F. Drinan, a Newton
Democrat, and Boston lawyer James St. Clair found themselves on
opposite sides of the Watergate affair. Drinan, a member of the
House Judicary Committee, pieced together the impeachment resolution
against President Nixon, and St. Clair acted as Nixon's defense
lawyer.
This week St. Clair, a partner at the Boston firm of Hale & Dorr,
received an unexpected 76th birthday gift from his old adversary in
the form of a laudatory letter in Legal Times, a weekly publication
for lawyers.
