Littleton hires a new girls soccer coach

Littleton School Superintendent Vincent J. Franco did not follow the recommendation of a screening committee that included athletic director Dom Pizza when he chose not to rehire Frank Amato as girls soccer coach.

Amato was the consensus choice of the screening committee, being ranked first by four members, and sharing the top spot by the fifth. He also had wide support from parents and team members. Last season, Amato coached Littleton to a 12-5-3 record and its first-ever appearance in the Central Massachusetts tournament.
