Nursing homes face cut in funds Group fights Weld plan on Medicaid

Massachusetts' nursing homes don't have to wait for the
Republican Congress to cut their funding. The Weld administration
may do it first.
The trade group for nursing homes yesterday filed a bill in the
Legislature that would block the administration from putting a new
reimbursement system into place. Under the proposed scheme, roughly
half the state's 550 nursing homes would get less money next year
than they get now. As a group, the nursing homes would receive $11
million less in 1996 than they got in 1995.
"These are the most regressive regulations we have ever seen,"
