NEW YORK -- There is always a staggering amount of art on view in Manhattan's major museums, a variety unequaled anywhere else on the planet. Current and recent shows rank from not-worth-the-trip to fabulous. In the former category is the just-closed Whitney Biennial, an incoherent survey organized by Whitney Museum curator Klaus Kertess.
