Winnipesaukee, Sea of Galilee join in a `sister lakes' project

CONCORD -- Lake Winnipesaukee is entering into an international
environmental exchange of Biblical proportion.
Gov. Stephen E. Merrill has declared it a "sister lake" of the Sea
of Galilee where, according to scripture, Christ walked on water.
To make his proclamation complete, the state Department of
Environmental Services and its Israeli counterpart were commissioned
honorary Lakes Embassies.
The first official summit is Wednesday -- "Sister Lakes Day."
Israeli environmental officials will visit the state on their
mission to learn methods of preserving and monitoring the Sea of
