Leopoldo E. Maza, 47 Taught at Milton Academy

Leopoldo E. Maza of Boston, a Milton Academy faculty member for 20 years, died of AIDS Dec. 5 at Midway Hospital in Los Angeles while on vacation. He was 47.

Mr. Maza was born in Vera Cruz, Mexico, and raised in Havana. In 1962, when Mr. Maza was a teen-ager, his family sent him to the United States, where he lived with a foster family in New Bedford for four years.

In 1971, Mr. Maza graduated magna cum laude from Providence College. In 1973 he received a master's degree in Spanish literature from the University of Kansas.
