Q. I found some brown, hairy carpet beetle larvae on my rug. I have
not found the source of them, and an exterminator said a powerful
pesticide must be used to kill them. Is there anything else I can
do? R.R., Franklin
A. Yes, there is a lot you can do. If you can't find their source,
you can at least sanitize to try to eliminate the insects' habitat.
Get rid of all lint, debris and any other food source and organic
matter. You may have to store food in air-tight containers as well.
